The King City Union School District serves students in preschool through 8th grade. We believe that all students bring assets to our classrooms. With this in mind, we strive to understand, engage, and support the continuous development of the whole child in a safe and encouraging environment. Our instructional practices are designed to promote inquiry and support students as they build independence, apply, and extend their learning. Additionally, we provide social and emotional supports and expanded learning opportunities for students at every campus as well as through partnerships with various community agencies. KCUSD offers expanded options for students including: Transitional Kindergarten: A child is eligible for Transitional Kindergarten (TK) if they turn five between September 2, 2024 and June 2, 2025. More information for enrolling your 4-year old child for transitional kindergarten, or enrolling a child at any grade, can be found HERE. TK is available at each of our elementary schools.*
- Expanded Learning: All of our campuses offer an after school program from dismissal until 6:00p.m. The afterschool program is offered through our partnership with ProYouth, with the HEART program serving students in TK - 5 and the EDGE program serving students in 6 - 8th grade. Please reach out to your school principal for additional information or you may contact Edgar Lopez, Area Program Manager, at the ProYouth office located on the Santa Lucia campus room P25 or at elopez@pyheart.org.
- Expanded Learning: In addition to ProYouth, each site offers additional enrichment opportunities throughout the year. Please watch for notifications from your child’s school for specific options and schedules.
- Dual Language Immersion: We are dedicated to supporting multilingual education and are beginning a Dual Language Immersion program for students in TK and Kindergarten for the 2024-25 school year. The program is available at Santa Lucia Elementary and will expand each year.
